Right now I am feeling like a rodeo clown in a mine field. Everywhere I read it says do not even think about building your own marinizing kit, because it is so difficult. So I get the feeling that I have missed out on 80% of the information right now, because if this is what you need to do, it's not any harder than some of my previous engine builds for cars.[/QUOTE]

What you lack on your marinization project is the incredible amount of R&D time and money that major manufacturers have invested to bring viable product to the consumer.
Even at that, some pretty lousy products hit the market, so what are the chances that your one off project will have a great outcome?
Always remember that your safety and that of everyone around you is at stake here.

    Hello, new here.
I'm playing with the idea of marinisinig two VW 2,5 TDIs and coupe them together to one volvo penta DPH stendrive. Hope for for the same performance as the strongest volvo penta D6, 400hp at WOT. Anyone gone down that route?

Play all you want but I doubt you'll find anyone who has completed such a project.
There have been a few manufacturers that bolted two engines together and there also has been a Tatra passenger car in the 50's that had two engines and could run on either one or both, but these people had virtually unlimited resources.

Thanks CDK, makes even more interesting to try it. Would it be OK to think loud in here to get constructive comments which could help make the idea materialize in a good way?

Of course! We've had several threads about one engine and two props, so why not two engines and one prop! I'm sure there is an audience for it.

Time flies, anyway, a volvo penta dph-c with ratio 1,59, a 31 foot boat and some vw 2,5 tdis have been purchased. The original plan was to use two 2,5 tdis to feed the drive, now I'm thinking of using three, thus bringing the top speed up from late thirties to 45+ knots. The input shaft speed must be increased from the designed 3500rpm to around 5000 in order to keep the torque within limits. The drive will be dry sumped and equipped with forced oil cooling. Anyone out there running volvo penta dph or dpr drives well above designed rpm?

Two engines and one prop, old idea used on landing crafts.Good idea to save fuel in idle.
