Multihull Capsize Prevention <split>

Gooday Cav. I notice on our TV news - that you've got some small (20 mtrs long) warf bits - landing on the shore - just south of you - darned if I'd want to be sailing at night - no matter how much carbon/s-glass/kevlar/e-glass & again & again & again - up to about 5/8" thick or $1K CAD heavy - which ever comes first ?? - however I'll pass on long ocean voyages - in your area - at least for a bit. How do you go sailing with all that - floating rubbish ???

North West Passage??

Apparently the North West Passage from Greenland to Alaska is open in summer - sometimes - as Matt Rutherford has just proven sailing his 27fter through there on a solo non-stop around the Americas.

Hello James, that is a big chunk of dock alright, that could dent a freighter. It will be a couple years before I have the Nicol to where I want it for real offshore sailing which works with the incoming drift. People might have to heave to at night in the meantime. Things are showing up sooner than expected, the radiated water coming after the debris is the big concern. They dumped a lot in for quite awhile before anyone caught on to what the **** they were doing. We sail in the rubbish by trying to keep a good look out, we have lots of drift anyway so sometimes we have to slalom!

The NW Passage is melting fast and sooner all the time. It is also increasingly used by shipping who aren't used to seeing boats up there so all the usual precautions for shipping lanes are needed along with the knowledge help is further away.

 

When I was wandering around in the PNW I found that 100 grand while making camp. Didn't know it was yours so I took it. When the Gubs came after me I showed them the paddle so you don't have to worry about them anymore as they were working with the the agencies to laundry the money and keep it. That's the 100 grand I wanted to invest in the boat so you have to find another 100K for your part.

About splitting up... we'd better find ourselves a Bi-plane rigged Cat... so we wouldn't have to fight over the rig...

Maybe something like this Schionning Wilderness 1230 . . ? ?

But then a open bridgedeck would be easier to cut up and close so I suggest a Schionning Radical Bay 1060 . . . . :idea:

I saw this guy with a Farrier F-31 Proa who was carrying a spare ama. Maybe he will lent us that one so we can cut it in half seal it up and make ourselves some long aka's like Slingshot and Crossbow I . . .

To get us back on track... would those Bi-plane rigs be an improvement or a deterioration regarding capsize prevention . . . :?:

I don't think the biplane rig would hurt, the lower center of effort and gravity might help.....but I don't think we need to worry.

I'm glad you found the money, I've caught our agencies too often laundering money....When I was a political prisoner I was tortured but found too stubborn for mind control, they couldn't get me to go back to monohulls....

These posts have made me realize the ridiculous effort involved in breaking up so I think we will be alright, we seem fair and share a suspicion of gubs.....

Sleepless in the Salish Sea

Hello Angel, I had no idea hi finance was so complicated.....When Golden Oldies Multihulls heard I was contemplating spending $100,000 on a boat they sent me a list of boats they felt were in need of rescuing along with a reminder a new cat will take me off the gold list as well as the silver. They also want cash as my checks don't cash in the EU........

This led to my second problem. I renounced my plans to liberate Cascadia after finding the funding was coming from the very corporate entities I was opposed to, "Start the Revolution Without Me" guys. While exploring the world of crime to raise the money I found the opportunities are already pretty well filled in my area....In fact our Agencies are actually in place to help people in the PNW launder their money as dirty currency is most of what we have.....The only openings are sponsored by our agencies as they try to fill vacancies in our prison system which makes big bucks.....

I couldn't sell the family farm as we are trying to preserve it for future generations and keep it out the hands of developers and other local criminals....I'm also reminded that as a single father of some 13 years my son is getting closer to college age....(he is 16 now)

This has caused me restless nights but I know you will understand that I can't break up with the Nicol which actually has better capsize records than Chris White boats. In fact it might be sensible for you to spend the Gub money on a smaller boat over there then we can take turns flying back and forth trying to capsize each others boat. What about the tiki 38 which has a low rig that is hard to capsize?. We could each build a hull and ship them by container to an assembly point..... That Schionning with the biplane rig and fat cabin looks like a lee shore disaster though the other one isn't bad.....Of course if we have his and her boats you can anchor yours anyway you like!

I am 53 and going to build a 30' too 40' blue water catamarand to live aboard for the rest of my life I will need ease of handling economical and safe. Have all the time in the world as I am retired . Any help would be great

Came across Rich Wilson's article about his capsize with the trimaran Great American exactly 9490 days ago 400 miles west of Cape Horn.

Darn this thread, it ruins my low profile as a gub runner, they are in high demand these days after the recent election.
The Nicols are creaming Chris White cats on capsizing. http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f48/atlantic-57-catamaran-capsized-175996.html 2 47s now. We saw the mastfoil Chris White sailing up North this year. It looked easy to handle. My son is currently in his junior year at college, we managed to sneak in a late season cruise after his summer internship ended.
Maybe we can bury this thread before Doug Lord finds out about the boat loads of gubs I sold to Trump, who knew he'd use them for votes!

 

Ah, whats a "gub"?

 

A gub is a mythical invisible beast that can impersonate whatever you want it to. People use them for various transactions where actually having contraband could get you into trouble. Mine are Canadian, raised in the wild in a program sponsored by Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson. I'll lose my backstage pass after this one.....

I blame the Cascadian activists for tricking us all. At first I thought it a harmless joke as Trump used gub data and wound up retracting lots of things but the activists tipped him off and he used them for votes. The Cascadian plot centered on the idea that if Trump won the election the entire West Coast would secede.

Need any gubs in Oz? I use them for flights of fancy and lifting unsupported facts but they have lots of applications. Now that the home market is revealed I may have to start exporting.
