Chain and rope properties

    Hello, does anyone know some references about chain and rope properties??

    I need the stiffnes, stiffness coeficents and breaking load of anchoring chains and mooring fiber ropes, if anyone can help I'd be really gratefull.

    Each rope and chain is different, their manufacturer should have this info.

    Usually you go the other way. Specify what stiffness and breaking load you need, then look up materials that fulfill the specifications.

    You are right, the problem is that all I know about the ship is that it is a 73700DWT VLCC wich is moored to multibuoys, the dimensions of the boat, the placement of the buoys and some climatic data :/. Do you know if there is any reference I could check about wich type of rope and chains a ship uses??

    Are there any regulations in you area for mooring chains/ropes? If there are, they will tell you what to use.
