looking for Munro info

Hi,
I have hanging in my basement, the stern of the 1928 Gordon Munro built Motor Sailer "Harbinger". I spent many years 40s,50s and 60s sailing her. My grandfather, a good friend of Gordon, purchased the boat probably in the early 1930's.

I am interested in any information related to the Harbinger / Munro.

Gordon Munro was born in Scotland in 1889, and moved to Massachusetts when he was 5 years old. He apprenticed at the Lawley yard and went into business on his own in 1920. He is somewhat known as "The father of the Motorsailer" and he designed his first one in 1921. By 1929 he felt his motorsailers were highly efficient dual purpose boats, capable of sailing or motoring to windward in heavy weather.

Oddly Munro sometimes added an "e" to the end of his name, and sometimes he didn't.....Likeable guy!

He died in 1967 and his papers and drawings are in the Hart Nautical Collections at MIT in Cambridge, Mass.

Gordon's wife gave over 300 docs to MIT in 1968. However, thy have found nothing related to his MS design.. I remember, probably in the mid 1950s, reading a magazine artical with pics and drawings on the Harbinger or Nancy R. I would think material on these MSailers would have warranted some effort to perserve docs??

Both boats may have be built (28,29) by Graves Yacht Yards in Marblehead. Maybe I'll look in that direction.
