    Hello,
I would like to buy vacuum pump. I would like to do vacuum bagging and also epoxy infusion. I'm not sure about size of the work at this moment, but I hope I can do sizes of 5-10m2 of area for vacuum bagging and for epoxy resin infusion only smaller pieces like booms, foils/daggerboards, local repairs and builds, so lets say not up to 5m2 of area.
    I'm from Czech Republic (Europe).
    I'm interested in:
    Germany R+G vacuum pump P1-N: (http://shop1.r-g.de/art/390100 )
or from Easy Composites: (http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/vacuum-equipment-and-supplies/vacuum-pumps-and-equipment/high-capacity-composites-vacuum-pump-12cfm.html ).
Which do you think is better? Or can you recommend any others?

    Thank you very much!

    Viktor

    Hi Vector77,

Curious to know which pump you purchased and how do you like the pump so far?

    Thanks,

Just use a good vacuum cleaner!

I once needed a professional reproduction camera for film sizes up to 50x60 cm. These usually are very expensive (over 10.000 Euro), but I found a supplier in England who offered a suitable camera for less than half of the market price.
Instead of an expensive vacuum pump they used a simple vacuum cleaner, neatly tucked away behind the metal panel of the frame.

My 5 hp shop vac only pulls 1.5 inches, not enough to do any thing.
However, my car pulled 18 inches which is how I did my first bag years ago.

Old Dirt devil works great, picked it up from garbage pile, and removed housing.

    vacumn pump

The pumps you picture are airconditioning car pumps. The work but their cfm is low so you have to be very meticulous with the seal. You have to use bagging material made for vacumn molding/ infusion. harbor freight has one for under 100 dollars which I have. It leaks a lot of oil when run and I have to put it outside when running or it stinks up the shop but it does the job. There is nothing like bagging and infusion once you understand the basics and go thru a couple of small projects. I did have a large 1 1/2 hp rotary vane which was great, I got it from people who used it for infusion, But they run over 1000 dollars. Used ones are almost impossible to find. In fact when I moved my shop to the west coast from east, I couldn't bring it and couldn't even give it away it has such a limited market and it weighed about a hundred pounds, but it was a great pump. Hope this is some help.

The pumps in post #7 are only suitable to evacuate air and moisture from cooling systems in A/C and fridges.
They produce high vacuum at low displacement, for vacuum infusion you need the opposite.
