maybe even consider adding quick landings on mold for bag surfaces? some 6 inch wide particle board even that takes wax easily and won't stick. could clean up mold a tad and lay flat and just cove bog it on from backside, then wax and go, even scribe shape to cut to fit that way as well?

Yes, I was thinking along those lines. Just a simple ply or particle board landing to give a bagging flange.

Well I didn't end up vac bagging the float veneers and went back to the old stapler. Laying up the veneers in the polyester molds was pretty easy to do and I didn't need that many staples to hold everything in position. I've now popped a float side out of the half mold. I'm fairly pleased with it and the lamination is pretty light. A couple of shots after I cut off the epoxy blobs and gave the surface a bit of a sand. I still have to fill a few minor gaps trim the hull to fit the shape and fit the laminated gunwale strip.

The next piece will go faster, I'd say keep plugging away as a mold pun!

Wow, finally getting back into this project, life has thrown some serious curve balls for my family and I during the intervening years but today I cleared my working area and pulled my float halves out of storage, hope to have more to show soon.

Impressed by your build, seems like you have everyday life coming in your way. Can tell you, things get even more hectic after retirement;).
