A homage to Fabio Fossati

    I don't know if the news was already published in this forum, if it is so - I had missed it.

    Mr. Fossati had passed away at the beginning od December 2015, his departure is a big loss for the sailing and scientific community.

    He was involved up to his last days in a number of research projects regarding sailboats and fluid dynamics applied to sailing, always at the cutting edge of the modern research in his field.
    His contribution to our knowledge about the physics of sailboats is truly remarkable, and his works were pillars on which the evolution of modern racing rules and VPP methods and software were based.

    Thank you for all the excellent and illuminating readings and R.I.P., Prof. Fossati.

    Thanks, Slavi. I just got his book "Aerohydrodynamics and The Performance of the Sailing Yacht" last year. Didn't know much about the man at that point but his work is impressive.
    Sorry to hear of his passing.......

    He is a loss to the boating community.Lots of impressive work and he leaves big shoes to be filled.
