    1968 Aqualark sport

I have a 1968 aqua lark sport I believe. I have only found one other like it. Can anyone tell me any history. I've had it for almost 40 years. We moved off the lake and I'm thinking of selling it

    Aqua lark info .....

    Hi Ronald ...
This the mother load of information on the Aqualark . A bit twitchy to navigate but the history is here . I had my boat in the water last summer (2015)for the first time and had a ball ! I'm 64 and 6'2" at 208 lbs . Family and friends think I am nuts but when I'm in that boat I'm 13 again . The 25 Merc makes it fly ! It does 37 mph . Very quick when you are so close to the water . Instant out of the hole and stable in the turns . It's a great little design . Also no problem with an adult passenger . If you park it on the trailer anywhere in town no doubt there will be someone coming up right away saying "Wow ... What is this ? How fast does it go ?" Love this boat !

Thanks for the reply! The last time I drove it myself, I was only 13yrs old. That was 1983. It's been in the family over 40yrs. It's been in and out of the water over the years. We bought jet skis starting in '88, so most the kids gave up on it. I decided to restore it last summer so I split it apart tore out the floor replaced the stringers and flooring and fiberglassed it all in and out it all back together. Now I'm ready to redo the outside. I have only seen one other like mine. It's the sit on top version, rather than the skip jack style you sit inside. I recently sold my lake house and have thought of selling it. I would really like it to go to a collector or someone that likes antique boats.

    82 Aqua Lark

Howdy, new to this thread (and Aqua Lark ownership). I have a '82 Aqua Lark that I recently purchased. It came with a 15 hp Mercury. After painting it (red to green), I finally got in on the lake and was somewhat disappointed in the speed (lack thereof). I bet my top speed was only about 15mph and I couldn't get it to plane. But I weight 220lbs, so my guess is I need more hp. Wondering what others experience has been? I was thinking upgrading to something closer to 30 hp? Even at slow cruising speeds, I had a blast with the kids.
    Thanks
    Matt

    Displacement ....!

    Hi Matt ,
They say " there is no resplacement for displacement " ... I just sold my '80s Aqualary to a 160 lb guy . The boat has a rebuilt 1990 25 Merc and it goes 35 mph . The guy is having a blast . The leg has a dol-fin planing attachment that shoots it out of the hole . Great combo ! The trick is to find a short shaft with the HP you want . A 30 2stroke would make it fly !
Your boat looks great by the way !

This is a great forum for the Sea Lark. I recently acquired about 12 of the little boats in various states of disrepair. They were originally part of a rental fleet at Disney World and have been sitting outside for between 15 and 20 years. there are no controls or engines and I almost think they were damaged bodies that were not returned to service. I am working on digging them out and separating them into good and bad halves. So far I have one apart and mostly stripped of 4 coats of paint. Looking for any advice on motor size and control suppliers.

I don't even know the year of these boats. I did find a vin# DOT11458 on one of them.

I am working on loading some pictures.

If there were only 14 made, are they worth anything? I was thinking about dropping a small jet in it.
