Need suggestions - pontoon corrosion

I bought an used pontoon boat recently. The boat is about 4 years old and I noted corrosion is about to happen in some parts. I cleaned it with boat plus clean, but not much of a help. The color on that area became fainted. My neighbour suggested to provide some sort of coating on that part, so that further corrosion wouldn't happen. What is your opinion?. I came to know that Automatic coating limited in Toronto http://www.automaticcoating.com/services/ has this service. Do they come to our place and repair?. If anyone know about their service please reply me soon. If you have any other suggestions please share that too.

 

Corrosion is either present or not. I don't understand what you mean by "about to happen". The cleaner you used seems to be a detergent. Aluminum gets a coat of oxide, which passivates the surface, but may be cosmetically unsightly. The usual method is to polish and wax. Powder coating and other barriers like paint, work well until they get a small ding or scratch. Then, all the chemical activity is concentrated in a single spot, often causing a pinhole.

Agreed, there are a few choices in terms of staving off corrosion, which are often material specific. I have a pontoon in my yard now that's getting the "one over" for resale. The 'toons will be buffed and polished, everything else cleaned, waxed and generally "spiffed" up so it looks pretty sitting on the side of the road with a "for sale" sign on it.

Long term solutions usually are more about owner care than actual processes or coatings. Maybe you can be more specific about your concerns, possibly some pictures?
