I find it hard to believe you will get 4 people in there with a motor.
    Can you buy complete plans?
Some bodies illustration can lead you into serious problems if you try to use just the picture.

Does the hull design you are envisioning already exist and is available used?

I'm all for designing and building from scratch something which doesn't already exist but modifying a nice used hull would be lots easier and more cost effective.

    Do you have a budget?

If you want to design and build from scratch for the fun and adventure involved in this type of a project then certainly do so. Just make sure the end result will be something you want to use and enjoy. Sometimes the build is more fun than using what gets built......not that I've ever done anything so shortsightedly silly.

How do you intend to use this boat?
    - Take the family out for a cruise?
    - Run away from home and become a pirate?
    - Woo the ladies?

I'm surprised that at your age, 14, speed is not more of a priority.
