Hi all, am new here and hoping for some help. I have purchased a Simms super v jetboat and the previous owner sent me an email of a pp65 jet pump manual pdf.
The pictures in the manual look nothing like mine. I have found a pdf of another pp65 which looks like mine. i will add pdf. The images in this thread are like my jetpump.... http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/jet-drives/sims-super-v-jetboat-33953.html

Also this looks like mine which the owner thinks its a pp60?

Hi I suggest you spend some time reading the archives as there is a wealth of information on this boat and it's jets. The PP65 designation refers to the impeller inlet diameter ie 6.5 inches there wasn't a PP 60. there were however several slightly different versions of the 65 and some copies. If yours is a PP unless you need castings an impeller or control linkages you shouldn't need Naiad. The jet pump in the ebay picture is not a PP jet. but is referred to in several postings on this site .I suspect that some parts may be interchangeable .Good luck

Hi, I have been reading as much as i can about them. i have seen you post to most questions risen on here so understand you must know a lot about them.

I believe it is a pp65. I will measure inlet later today but i cant find any markings or serial numbers and no hand hole cover on it either.

I wanted to purchase a new ss wear ring and nylon ring as i am missing nylon ring and the jet was in bits as boat has just been repainted so need to know how it all goes back together which i am making sense of it slowly. I also need to purchase an engine for it so will like thoughts on a ford v6 or rover 3.5 v8.

Also are all nylon bushes this polyacetal i have seen you mention as i had nylon ones made last week for the steering nozzle.

    Regards

Measuring the inlet diameter of the impeller won't identify your jet ,many of the copies used this impeller as a casting copy. Post some photos of your jet for a definitive answer.Nylon absorbs water and swells .but since those particular parts are not fine tolerance it probably won't matter. Polyacetal is readily available and easy to machine it is much more stable in water.

Thanks for the speedy reply. i have found polyacetal on ebay which i will purchase as i think i'll need a new collet machined so will get the bushes remade with that.
I will go take some photos and post them later but as i stated previously the jet is in bits but identical to one in link.

The previous owner stated he changed the main bearing but am i right in thinking there is a lip seal there too. I have purchased lip seal and DU bush for the stator.

    Regards

If it's" identical" to the one on ebay then it's not a PP65. However I imagine that it will have similar internals .In which case there are three lip seals behind the bearing ,with a gap between two of them which aligns with a greaser hole. Make sure you specify stainless steel springs on these seals, and that the springs face the water. The shaft will be marked where these seals run ,this will be a guide to their spacing. I am assuming that they have copied the PP, they would have to have been a bit simple not to.

That is not a PP65 but the internals look close enough that for rebuild and maintenance purposes you should treat it as one. If used sensibly only bearings and seals wear on these and they are easily and cheaply sourced at your local motor factors ,be sure to fit a large anode somewhere on the casing.Scoring on the wear ring is not normally cause for replacement, aluminium oxide under it causing distortion can be ,as it can be difficult to remove without destroying it.A photo of the front bearing would be helpful,to confirm that they have copied the 65 here as well.

Hi, thanks again. i did not get the nylon wear ring so was gonna purchase the 2 together. I will take a photo of the old bearing i was given and post later.

I have purchased bushes and seal for stator, i will remove front bearing on dry day and see if front seals have been replaced.
    Cheers

The wear ring is the conical stainless steel ring within which the impeller rotates.

Also does anyone know where i can get marine manifolds from for possibly a 3.5 rover v8?

It's difficult to tell from the photos how bad the wear ring is however since it's out if you are unhappy with it then replace it . Rover manifolds used to be stocked by Lancing Marine they were made in the USA by Nicson for the BOP 215 which was the forerunner of the Rover V8, however I note that you have a 3 bladed impeller ,this is more likely to be pitched for the v6.
