2003 johnson 115 two stroke problems

Hi all, I need some help with getting a johnson 115 v4 to run on all cylinders. The starboard cylinders have good spark and compression, new carburetor kits and spark plugs but doesn't even make an attempt to start. I also changed power pack and coils but the problem persists, is there something I'm not doing right or not doing at all? Thanks for any contribution.

 

You have a workshop manual and have followed the troubleshooting procedures ? You are on a merry-go-round if you don't.

 

Does this mean that the other two cylinders have no compression?

 

That had me wondering, hard to start on two cylinders. He needs a manual and a multi-meter. Changing components on spec is for the birds.

 

Compression on all cylinders are practically the same and everything else seems normal to me

 

You have a good workshop manual ? Madness not to. Do the plugs look wet after you crank it ?

 

I don't have a workshop manual and yes, the plugs on the starboard side are a bit wet. I'm not getting a flooding of the carburetors though

 

Does that engine have a primer solenoid ? You get a click when you turn the start key part way (without engaging starter) and press in at the same time. If you don't hear a click, it isn't working, and makes starting difficult. But you really need that manual and test meter to exhaustively run all the checks.

 

Yes, what you are describing is the choke system and that is working.Is there a site where I am able to download the workshop manual?

 

This might be useful, depending on your engine. As / \ you need to work through each part, ignition and carburation, and although I don't know this engine, what about the spark on the Port side?

Do yourself a big favor and spend 30 bucks. It'll be the best investment you can make on this V4. The "hunt and peck" method is just going to cost you money on parts you don't need and hair lose, as you hank it out in frustrated handfuls. It's up to you.

 

I doubt he has an e-tec, he says "Johnson", I assume a carburetted 2S ?

 

The engine is a carbureted two stroke. Model#(J115PLSRC) OIS. I will welcome any assistance now till I can source a manual which might take me a week to obtain.

 

If you have done the compression check without properly disabling the ignition system (you need to consult a manual ! ) you may have wrecked one or more coils. A test meter will be needed to establish that.
