Guys, I am looking for an affordable, simple, reliable, easy to understand, manage and READ , quality sounding, gadget that I can download my own files into, plug into my stereo system and play what I want, when I want it, ONLY.:) All I want out of life is to have playlists that I can find, and manage, sort by category or name, hit a button and forget about it. No streaming, no SHUffle, no CAMERAs no PHONEs, NO " i store" full of ads and garbage, NOTHING else!

What does everyone else do these days? I don't want to go back to the dark age of CD players, or eight tracks, but jeeze, how can I simplify things a little bit?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

MP3 players are always a bit hit or miss. I know you said no phones... You can pick up a very cheap android smartphone now for peanuts. Less than an mp3 player. The music player app will probably be good. If not, spend a bit of time to go through the play store and try out some other ones.

Once you're happy with the setup, turn on airplane mode, remove all the icons except media player and you're all set. Now it's essentially a tiny tablet computer. It won't even know it's a phone ;-)

You won't get that kind of user choice with an mp3 player.

You should get an android phone. Mp3 players aren't that hit any more. If you get a smartphone, it will not only allow you to listen to music, but an extra phone for you too.
