Filling stringers

    Does anyone have the name of the material that is used to fill stringers? It is a 2 part system that you mix and pour into the cleaned out stringer.

    Do you mean the flotation foam that goes between the hull and the floor?

    No gonzo, This stuff is mixed and poured into a rotten stringer that has been opened on the top and most of the rotten wood has been removed.

    This is a polyester mix, with ground up chunks of more polyester (cured) used as an aggregate/filler. There are a few companies producing this stuff, each touting it as the best. It's heavy and only works on very well toothed internal surfaces, which is often hard to accomplish inside tabbing. It's also not cheap. Nida Bond and SeaCast are the two major players.

    Thanks for the info. I'll pass it on to a friend that is trying to repair an old bass boat.
