Myarl 'please' start your own thread..... you're on a different wavelength to everyone else in the 459 page history of this thread.

Yeah but it's both dragging the thread down and spoiling mine and other peoples enjoyment. It's an ego trip manifesting itself on a photo thread on a boat design forum.... How weird is that?

Your not the first with that opinion.
    Probably won't be the last.

Your suggestions while public, will not help.

Some time ago, I sent a PM/flag to the moderator asking to move the material to a new thread.
    I received no reply.

So, I made a private appeal to the poster to politely ask if they would start a new thread ... response posted below. Further, insults accompanied by a negative rating was registered against my "reputation" on the board.

I only check in once in a while now. This thread in no longer enjoyable and clearly, the moderators are not concerned.

Given the rather general title of the thread, it seemed easy enough to simply ignore a few posts of his photos in China which were faulted for not being random enough.

However, it's important the site can be a place everyone can enjoy and a response like that calling you a "weirdo" in reply to your polite request is definitely not appropriate.

Myark, please do not post further in this thread as your posts are causing too much irritation.

My job is to try and keep everyone happy, and when you reply to people in such a manner making no effort to get along you make this impossible.

    Woobs,

I sent you a + for reputation, just to offset Myark. I thought your message to him was completely reasonable - more so than myself at times.

Does anyone know how I can see another's reputation? It would be interesting to see what Myark's is. Although I have never sent a negative - as I mentioned, I just put him as "ignore" .

If we cannot see another's reputation - what good is it really? I do appreciate feedback on myself, but would prefer to know who sent what. Sometimes I might be able to talk to the person with a negative comment and work something out. The anonymous format prevents that.

Without a change to the format, anyone who has a negative to me please sign it. I'll try to be civilized. We might even find we agree on something.

It appears next to post count, and like the post count number is only a very general indicator of activity and how one's posts are generally received. The usefulness is currently only to give a general indication if one's posts are being received well or if there's an issue to give a chance to look at it (i.e. don't worry excessively about one individual positive or negative post feedback remark, but if your posts are getting a number of negative feedback comments that they are inappropriate, offensive, dangerous, wrong, etc. it would be good to take another look at what you've posted.) Any post feedback comment that is negative should identify exactly what is wrong with the post in question. A problem with identifying who found fault with a post is that it can easily become a game of retribution, where person A finds fault with person B's post, and then person B responds by finding fault with person A's post or building animosity. Your suggestion of a system where a post feedback comment leads to a private dialogue is a great one though and hopefully will be implemented in the future as this would be very useful.
It's also fine to send someone a PM when you feel something is wrong with his or her post to discuss; please do not use PMs or PM replies ever though to insult other members.

Here's a photo of the historic landing by the Space X Falcon launch vehicle. The first stage boosted the satellite carrying second stage to a speed of almost 4,000 mph and an altitude of 45 miles. It then separated, turned around using cold gas thrusters and fired its main engine to reverse the trajectory. It fired its main engines again during the return trip to avoid gaining too much speed.

Finally, near the landing area it fired its engines once again to make a controlled vertical landing. The first time in history that a launch vehicle* has returned to where it started under its own power.

*Last month Blue Origin's Shepherd rocket also made a vertical landing after it's flight up into space. The difference is that the Falcon was boosting another stage carrying a commercial payload that would go to orbit. The Shepherd carried no payload. Both are significant achievements.

If you don't like my posts ( which is most of them) you delete them. Why don't you just do that with myarks when he gets carried away. I think you do a terrific job except when it involves this person.

An example of one of your posts which was deleted called another member "this fool" which is directly insulting to the other person and against the forum rules. (other deleted posts included alternate derogatory terms such as "idiot".) When the two of you have posted negative things towards one another, as many of his posts have been removed as yours. Posts may also be removed if they create copyright problems, contain nudity or sexually suggestive material or material that isn't work- and family-safe, profanity, excessive gore, or that promotes violence or racism. It's harder to remove posts when someone's posting style is annoying to people when it's not clear if they mean for it to be annoying or it's just the way they write. Since I asked Myark above not to post further to this thread because of his very inappropriate PM and his lack of concern for annoying others, it is only fair to also post a warning to you since you've brought it up: please consider this a warning and do not insult other people on or through the forum or please take it elsewhere. (A warning has been sent to Myark as well.) This goes for everyone - please don't use the forum to post insults or intentionally try to annoy or continue fights with others. That's not enjoyable for anyone.

Hopefully now the thread can get back to a more enjoyable tone.
Thanks to all who post interesting things, and who make the extra effort to be kind to others so everyone can enjoy it. Thank you.
