Proponents claim to prove the existence and power of chi by healing
people with acupuncture, acupressure, meridian dentistry, or chi
kung (qi gong), by doing magic tricks such as breaking a chopstick
with the edge of a piece of paper or resuscitating a "dead" fly,
or by martial arts stunts like breaking a brick with a bare hand
    or foot.

When examined under controlled conditions, however, the seemingly
paranormal or supernatural feats of masters of chi turn out to be
quite ordinary feats of magic, deception, or natural powers.

    ...

To find out more about what believers think about chi, look at any
of the advertisements on the Internet for chi products. You may
be surprised at what miracles people think are possible with a few
grunts and groans, and the waving of hands through the air.

Thanks for the link and had a bit of a laugh after reading the comments especially the one attached below .........

Recently on a thread elsewhere I expressed some opinions deemed unpopular by the majority and I found myself publicly and privately denounced, disavowed, and discouraged for my non-conformist thinking.

The irony being that my non-conformist thinking amounted to me trying to share my professional expertise with some people who very obviously knew little about what they were talking about but who were too busy falling over themselves liking something to tolerate what I was telling them.

I thought it was funny they were so bothered by what I was saying but it was also sort of sad.

Your non-conformity is in no way a bad thing, nor should it be criticised in any
way. The bs you spread is another matter completely.

I've been a non-conformist from the day I was thrown out of school at age 15,
then again at 15.2, and again at 15.3. :)
I turned 60 recently, and I have vowed to grow up by the time I'm 80. :p
    Until then...

Somewhere down in the valley would suit me just fine.

You know I see this sort of argument all the time and it still amazes me, that folks buy into it. Healers that cure cancer by placing their hands on someone's head, Chi, etc. all ridiculous nonsense, that can't be justified without a leap of some sort of faith.

In short, if any of these things actually worked, even with only a 10% success rate an HMO or other NGO or government agency would have them sign into a contract, to perform their "magic" for a 7+ figure salary. Of course, no well "centered" person or healer type has ever shown such proclivity, leaving one to conclude "there's one born every miniute" . . .
