down turns would be interesting - doing my haul out next week and will take another llok but seems like my life would be easier if I didnt have these 2 into 1 "colon" looking things gathering muscles year round. No to mention easier to clean drives and change zincs when under-water.

Saw an interesting thing a few weeks ago - neighbor got towed back in and the tow boat had a single inboard diesel and blue rubber floppy hoses off exterior of transom at water line....these were his exhausts and were flubbering like a sealion in the water....think the idea was to keep water out of engine when backing down?

 

Hello Harley guys and girls - so here we go again....pulling my 88 out tomorrow to get overdue bottom job done and fix a number of under the waterline things:

Cable driven trim notifications for tabs and drives

Fix a small leak in one of the Arneson drive throughbolts

Zincs

Remove colon-looking 2 into 1 external under-dive platform collectors of barnacles

Replace outdrive gear oil and replace various arnie plugs

Some above waterline cosmetics - beast needs a name and some paint touchup from wake tossing neighbors.

Cross your fingers that I dont find any other issues this go-round. Daughter's wedding wiped out the coffers and hoping to get this baby running decently enough for some nice Florida winter boating.

 

Success - she is on the hard at a DIY yard. Let the games begin

Redoing stripes old fashioned way

 

Arnesons hate 24x365 salt water - changed gear oil, boots, zincs, 4 of the 8 hoses, and tried to add cable-driven trim indicators....hurts my knees just looking at it.

 

Also pulled drive shafts for a sand blast, prime, and paint since they got wet - long story.
One of four trim pumps are having an issue - so fixing that is on agenda.

Farming out the bottom job this time around - getting too old for this ;-)

 

Decided to refresh stripes with paint as they are very chipped and faded. What a pita it was....ladders and masking tape and multiple coats.

Decided to leave the "colon" 2 into one cans on after-all.

 

Arch will be done too but will need fresh paint for black/white/and red.

wish I could come up with a way to pretty up the rub rails - too much fugliness and not enough time

Yes those are bondo patches - poor boat gets slammed into the dock despite quad heavy duty whips and fenders galore - rich kids down the canal have no sense of what no wake is

 

Any rub rail clean up advice?

Very nice Swamp! The Florida weather is making me very envious! I need to do some similar work myself!
