Ultimate Restoration

Good Morning All,
This is the first post in what is going to prove to be a long thread. 3 Weeks ago I purchased the 11th Pearson P35 ever made. She is named Ultimate, and she is going to be restored to her former beauty and if luck, skill, persistence and pocket book hold out, even better than original.

Built in Rhode Island in 1968, she has been neglected, and misused for quite some time, yet even still she retains the grace and beauty of a very well designed and built vessel.

So over the next few months I will be documenting the progress. I look forward to all the advice and words of encouragement I can get.

The "next few months", turned into 3 years.
Three years of Ultimate sitting while other things, large and small, got in the way.

My dad was born in November.

Ultimate was the 11th Pearson 35 to come off the line.

She is moored in two small slips 10 and 11, but the numbers are missing from each leaving 1s only, so not only slip 11 but slip 10 and 11 turned into slip 11.

So I have decided to rename her Oceans Eleven, of course I can't refer to her as Oceans just yet, we have to go through the renaming celebration to appease Poseidon.

 

Life does tend to get in the way of things. It took me 4 years to restore my 1962 Alberg 35 (precurser to your P35). What is in need of restoration? Is it limited to cosmetic, or is it structural like soft decks?
