Nice. Looks like a Gold Cup racer replica. Do you have any info on the boat?

That looks to be a scaled down version of Baby Bootlegger, G5, one of designer George Crouch's iconic designs. Baby Bootlegger won the Gold Cup in 1925, and two more Crouch designs won spots 2 and 3. The original Baby Bootlegger still exists, in Michigan, having been lovingly restored by Mark Mason back in the early 1980s. You can read the complete history of the restoration in WoodenBoat magazine issue #60, Sept./Oct 1984. I mention this not to detract from the builder of this boat's beautiful efforts, but rather to make the connection to history so that it does not get lost.

I think the model in the photo shows a beautiful reproduction job.

in 2013 our local ACBS chapter had a "race boat" feature for the shows theme. We were lucky enough to have several Gold Cup replicas there including Impshi and Hornet both of which come from the same boat, that was penned by George Crouch. All of these boats including Baby Bootlegger have also been topics of discussion on Woodyboater.com which is a blog with a different boat story every day.

This "Gold Cup" boat RIOT (ex. King of Harts) is not a replica but, a 25' Gold Cup inspired boat built by Dwight Boyd of Clarion Boats. RIOT is based out of Muskoka, Ontario and has travelled extensively to ACBS and other club events in Canada and the USA. It is truly a beautiful boat that is well used (and ~55mph quick) and in all kinds of weather. So many boats of this type seem not to leave their home lake so, it is wonderful that my enthusiastic friend has no issues pulling her around on a trailer!

How did these hulls handle with such narrow beams, does the step help to keep the boat stable at speed. A friend of mine built a narrow hull speedboat off a pre 1940 plan and she capsized when he opened the throttle.
