    Dear forum members,

    I would appreciate any suggestions for well known/good reputation consultants on structure/stress analysis for a one-off multihull in aluminum (55 feet around) ( not a naval architect, but a software oriented structure engineering/ FEA specialist).
    Worldwide location indifferent, certification by some sort of classification society a plus.

    Thank you in advance.

    Ad Hoc Naval Architect

    If you're not going to use a naval architect, then what you'll get is just pure engineering without any real degree of understanding of what the vessels SOR is, and thus what load cases are really necessary and require further attention. It is all too easy to be fooled by pretty colours and red areas and no attempt to link it with fabrication of how vessels are actually built nor the duty in-service. What it means, and is it relevant, is more important...but that is your call.

    Just type in FEA specialist into Google and you'll get more listed than I can shake a stick at...take your pick.

    @adhoc

    Your point is very valid.
    We are using a naval architect with all the right diplomas, track record and reputation. It is a rather busy small size practice which has a regular external consultant for structural analysis, who happens to be rather famous, involved in top level racing programs, with the associated pricing approach....
