Bluetooth Fuel Consumption Meter

Hello people,

I found this interesting forum because I am about to build my first boat. Since I am going to be needing your help, I wanted to give something back first.

In 2014 I bought a RIB and soon after preparing it for the summer, I made a DIY Fuel consumption meter that connects with any BT enabled Smartphone.

It was even futured on www.hackaday.com

I hope it will be usefull to anybody wanting a cheap Fuel consumption meter, since building stuff from scratch is fun!

My Yamaha F100 came with digital instruments that show speed, consumption, fuel efficiency etc. so I won't copy your project, but it encourages me to go ahead with my own Arduino project. An autonomous solar shower that is ready to use, regardless of the season. Electricity from the grid is used to provide additional heating during the cold season and to keep the outside plumbing above zero on cold winter nights.

I guess your only problem is reading the phone display on a sunny day.

Arduino is fun and easy so I think you wont have a problem.

The reason I kept contrast on the app so high, is because I wanted the display to be readable on a very sunny day. It uses a white background with a black bold font.

That is indeed still a problem from a phone, wonder whether we ever would see display's which are bright enough to see in the sun. Nice to see, you are having fun with programming.

When the organic LEDs (OLED) were in their development stage, Samsung promised us displays that are so bright you need sunglasses. But instead, they produced something they call "amoLED" with a brightness comparable with any good TFT screen.
