The boat has been fishing now in July and August and the new hatches are working great. Ice lasts for a long time in the hatches even without permanent insulation in the bottom. The brailer bags come out easily. The only down side is that the hatch covers are tight and it is a bit difficult to get them off.

    Hello,

I just read about your hatch process. Very informative, especially the photos.

I have a 34' Ohima gillnetter which needs very similar fish hold work as yours. I plan to ask a quality professional here in Juneau for a quote but am beginning to think it may be a doable home project by myself, wife, and son. We all have some Fiberglas experience.

Would it be possible to visit you and your boat in Sitka sometime this October?

    Thanks

Dear Finale, you can certainly look at my remodel of the Turnstone and meet with me about how I did the work. I had very little fiberglass experience before I started and learned a lot during the project. I will be in Sitka all of October. Send me a message on here and I will give you my email.
