I was thinking of the way they used to race them here. Yours looks like more fun though.

Total weight = 53 LBS, 113 1/2 inches long. Stiff like a board.

    GX-1 Race boat completed.

Just want to post that our new design hit the water a few days ago.
It handles very well, is quick for the first trial, stable, and just plain awesome.

    Race complete!

Lots of setup to do for next year's race....Barely got her race ready in time.

But....I'm so happy with the way she ran. This will be a race winner I predict.

That vid is before ANY engine Mods...so 8.5HP at engine output shaft. A modded GX270 is capable of 12-20HP without blowing up. Also running a pretty tame prop in the vid. During the race I was blasting a 25-30' rooster! 3x the length of the boat! Thanks for the prop's , my team and I worked very hard to get her ready for the Nanaimo world championship bathtub race!

    Video of drive bits...

This short video shows some of the detail's that make up the drive and steering.

A bunch of welding and grinding made the steering mount / "Skeg" unit..it just sleeves onto the shaft tube , clamped by 4 allen head s.s screws , so it can be moved to alternate positions if required. We were not sure how low speed handling would be, so made all that stuff adjustable / replaceable. But turns out it handles great at low speeds with lots of rudder in the water , and as it comes up on step
