If you leave the slot open as you show it on the pic, it will pick up a column of water and squirt it right up into the boat. You just need to apply another layer of epoxy/glass with a slot in it closely matching the section shape of the dagger board and the daggerboard must be rectangular in planform so that it's fore and aft edges are parallel. Don't be tempted to make an arty/farty elliptical shaped board. It is too difficult to get the proper section all the way down the board and in this size boat is quite un-necessary.

    Foil shaped opening

Putting the boat back in tomorrow, os7 didn't see you post till just now. I left the rectangular hole the way that it was, because that is how it was when I took it out, do you think that the vertical case will let it create a bigger splash? I can always plug the top hole, but it won't help turbulence with the lower hole.

Funny this situation came up, I have thought a lot about this, and I think os will have a uniquely qualified take on that due to his airplane experience. For me I'm still learning all this boat stuff but if it was a plane in the air, I know it wouldn't cause drag, but boats and water there might be other rules that apply. Case in point airliners. They fight for every 1/4 percent efficiency yet look as they fly over head, you see wheels. Reality is a symmetrical hole fills and compresses fast and cause little to no drag. So I'm curious myself about the application when it comes to boats and water. I know non symmetrical slots can cause some drag in air, but squares and holes don't. Sure if it's got no top or a hole it will move air and all bets are off, but sealed its different.

Oldsailor7 Is right. On my last sailing dingy that I built water would come up the dagger board trunk if not filled. Especially going over a wave, the water would come up like a gyser.

    Really nice Freddy.

Got my boat back in the water, dry as a bone! Motored over from Richmond to Ti this morning where she'll be berthed. Gotta reinstall all the rigging and build a new dagger board still before I can sail. She's so light, I can tell its going to be a rocket ship.
I found out I have a larger mast on it already. I need to contact the place that made the sails to find out the measurements. I ended up cutting out and replacing a couple feet of the gangway on both sides as well as the starboard cockpit seat. Also sanding and glassing the rudder again. So now that its back in the water ill paint the topsides completely before reinstalling all the rigging.

Im so excited, thanks to everyone who gave me advice.

Awesome, congrats! Boat looks good in the water. And is it me or did they do a bit of bubble or something on the roof line? Maybe it's just the angle but it looks more than just usual rake, it almost looks convex or something.

Thanks Barry, Yeah the cabin top is domed is that not standard? i haven't compared it to the plans, lets me sit on each side with a couple inches head room towards the back of the cabin. The hatch cover is also curved and slides nicely forward. The strips in the cabin top are nicely laminated curved beams.

Progress looks very impressive, please keep the updates coming.
    Regarding updates and plans
Roman has just finished the plans for the ply/glass demountable beams for the standard Buccaneer 24' trimaran.
I have just finished the Original plans scans to PDF, these include the under hung rudder option, the elusive centre board plan option and ancillary information including simple composite chain plate construction.
I will be adding further information to this plan set as it becomes available from our team.
Plans can now be emailed as soon as we receive payment confirmation from PayPal. Paper plan sets are still available for sending out if required.
I am working on the web page and soon download will be able to be undertaken straight from the PayPal page.
All available plans and becoming available plans are on the website plan sales page.
All information on the just completed beam plans with a few shots from the beam plans are available on the FB page in the usual place.
    Regards
    Brooke and team Ezifold

Great to hear about the progress on plans, will make everyone's life easier as more and more rediscover the bucc.

@cleveland. Yeah it must be modified, really looks sharp, it's a bucc yet those curves sleeken it up a bit.

Didn't break, put the plans but pouring through bucc pictures last night the curved beams seam to be in the plan.(see inside pics of samz Capricorn) My guess is they also played with elevation in back to make it seem more flowing. Looks good whatever they did though.

Been pretty quiet around here. Anyone doing any building? I've quit for the summer, but hope to get the main hull done this fall so I can be on the water next summer.
