Voyage for madmen Redux?

    I was just reading this guy is planning to sail from New York to SF via the clipper ship route on the new Brown/ Beiker Jester proa.

    It will supposedly be a singlehanded record of some sort for that course if he completes it, but it would seem someone must have done it already. The record set by a large cat of 43 days seems VERY unlikely to fall.

    So naturally, it occurred to me it would be sporting to have several boats doing it to keep things interesting? Only 13,000 miles......

    Clippers were used in the Tea trade. The route of New York to SF would've been more common for the Gold Rush era.

    I think "Flying Cloud" set the original record. Not sure on the clipper, frigate, schooner, ect. Designation, I believe the chap is using "Clipper Ship Route" in his PR. Should be an interesting attempt.
