Got the boat bottom done with eight coats. Christmas day six of us muscled the boat back up-right. Just applied the third coat today ahead of a big cold spell.

Got number 5 down and, WOW! Sanded with 220 heavy after the 4th coat and it really shows. I've got enough Epifanes to do 8 coats, but I'm going to stop at seven if it looks good. Using cheap foam rollers and tipping with a foam brush. Doing this at 50 to 60 degrees lets the varnish really flow and smooth things out! Watch for sags!

Got number six down and I have enough Epiphanes for one more. Even though I see a couple of flaws I'm going to stop here. 6 over 2 is a good layer. It's not perfect, but this is a daily driver! Looks great! I will post pictures soon. Next off to the upholsterer. I'm sending my windshield back to to UPD Plastics for a repro.Everything has to be done by May 15th. First show/float of the year!

Putting hardware on, waiting on rub rail. Next stop is the upholstery.

    Welcome Henrik!
I am Swedish-American, but can't speak Swedish. My mother was born in Norberg and I have cousins in Upsala. Enough about me, let's talk Delta. I'm going to guess and say it is probably a Delta towards the end of the company's life. Just a guess. I sure do like it! Todd Jacobson

    Hi All,
I am looking for a bit of help as well. Can anyone tell me what style boat this is? The original owner that I purchased it from told me it was a 55' Dunphy. But I really don't think it is. I believe it is a Delta Sexy. I am unsure the year and if it actually is a Delta. Hopefully some of the pictures that I post will help someone tell me what it is. I am trying to register it with the state and I would like the correct make, model, year, "or close to it". It is 13' 9'' long, and I do not have any #'s or tags in the boat. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!

    Welcome Brenny!
It looks like a 55-56 Delta. Being 14 ft I'm going to call it a Sexy. They made the Sexy in two configurations. One had the mid-deck and the other had no mid-deck but had step through seats. The latter was also known as the Ski. Look back on this thread and look at the '55. It's topside looks a lot like yours. My 1960 Sexy has a center seam, not the center piece like yours. Delta made a lot of kits, too. Do you have the hardware for your boat? Most Deltas used period off-the-shelf hardware which is still available. This is a good group for limited info. Delta is kind of a mysterious brand.

After looking at this for a few weeks I think it's a Delta. Anyone else?

Hi Brenny! Those look like Taylor Made standard clips that come up on ebay all of the time. Of course, I just looked and there weren't any today. If you can find a boat junkyard you'll find some. Your Delta may not have a plate because it could have been a kit. I'll keep an eye out for some clips. Todd

When I got home tonight I looked at mine and they are Tailor Made. Easy find.

So, we decided that our windshield just wouldn't cut it with the restored Sexy. I don't know about you, but try finding a used windshield or a place to sell you a new one or make one. There are few options. Taylor still makes all of the off-the-shelf windshields, $600-800 and they don't look quite right. Very nice company to talk to, though. Another place out off Canada that sells the Taylor repros. Or be a hero and make your own. I would do this if I had the time. Our last stop was UPD PLASTICS out of Florida. We had heard that they were surly, rude, etc., but turned out a great product!
We decided to go with UPD. We packaged our old windshield, split it in two to save freight, which still topped $60 and sent her off. About a week later I got an e-mail that said they had received the windshield. Production would be 3 weeks. I got a quote a few days later for $375+ shipping. 3 weeks later we got a notice that the windshield was on a truck and headed back. UPS delivered 8 days later for about $170. Windshield arrived in a giant double strength box wrapped in two miles of bubble wrap. No damage at all. By the way, the windshield is perfect! Also came with plexiglas drill bit and 8 grommets. Now I need to shape a new aluminum bracket!

Got the Sexy back from the upholsterer and was very glad. A few minus', but you get what you pay for! I'm taking the week off so we can get on to the lake this next weekend. I will post pictures tomorrow.
