Paddy I had to look that one up, so for the coming St. Patrick's day to serenade my slice of humble pie I will play the old Irish tune Paddywack on my back porch set.

    Lol Cav.
I was supposed to be born on St Patrick's day, and so the name Patrick.
Unfortunately I overshot by three days and have been called "The late Patrick" ever since.

Some things are good to be late for, the late Patrick is still kicking! Obviously you fired a rocket line to save the thread from drift. Cheers to you then Paddy, I'll play the tune again 3 days later to finish my penance.

Sorry for backtracking! Was outta town last week but had some info floating around the brain. Ca,e across an interesting glue test here.

    https://woodgears.ca/joint_strength/gorilla_glue.html

Was interesting and even set off a few light by bulbs for me, specially on the poly stuff! Really makes you realize not to just pick up and pass on what the last guy dropped, you need to think and verify things for yourself.

And of course, strictly speaking, shrouds and stays are made from wire rope....so that's a couple more....

Or you could use Dyneema rope for shrouds and stays.......

But they are then 'shrouds' and 'stays'...not ropes.....so probably don't count

Thanks, oldsailor. It took looking at the plans for years until I finally decided to get started. Now, it's balls to the walls! Except for the fact that I promised my wife it wouldn't supercede our household summer projects. I have a labor intensive yard and the garage needs new siding and a roof. So, I'm trading my TV time to work on the buc, which is a good trade. It helps that my shop is airconditioned, so when its too hot to work outside I can work on the buc. Plus, the last couple of years I've been inactive due to a horrendous motorcycle accident and then blowing out my back and needing surgery. The time working on the buc has been very therapeutic and I'm already feeling stronger and lost 7 pounds already! I'm treating it as a necessary workout. It doesn't hurt that I LOVE building things! Though my preferred medium in the past has been cars and motorcycles, I'm having a blast working with wood and epoxy!

Make sure you take epoxy safety seriously and avoid all skin contact. Gloves and barrier cream will keep you building. I often use disposable tyvek coveralls to save the work clothes. Of course masks to keep out the filler dust when mixing and sanding are also the rule. If you become sensitized to epoxy through contact you'll be building rashes instead of boats...

Contact Alcoa inc. in New York. They will tell you of your nearest dealer in Alloy tubing. I got mine direct from Alcan, but that was when I lived in Toronto Canada. Alcan direct supplied me with 4 1/2" tubing cut and drilled to spec, and also triple anodised.
Dunno if you can do that today, but it is worth a try.

Freddy, check with Taber Extrusions. They are in Russelville, AR and Gulfport, Mississippi. They may have what the Bucc needs. taberextrusions.com Glad to see you Bucc coming along nicely. I have a couple of more bulkheads to cut out and then start adding the edging. I will put up some pics when I get something worth seeing, lol.

    Hatch question

Has anybody (particularly OZ since they are made there) had any experience with "Imtra" brand plastic hatches? I purchased a pair of new "TM" brand hatches last year- and they are not very well made and they leak. I would prefer to stick with light plastic hatches, but my past favorites - Nava Rada, are no longer available here.

B, are you sure they are made in Oz? I googled it and can only find a Bedford, MASS corporation, none in Oz....

    Aluminum Tubing

Freddy, you might also look at tubeservice.com, they have a location in Aurora, CO, and have 4-1/2 in. x .125 wall in their catalog.
