I have a question, what does it cost to have a 5 story building designed? It should have 4 walls (minimum) and a roof, possibly with small aircraft landing on it occasionally.

The comedic value of submarine threads on this forum, is inestimable, a bit like the quote for the price of this one ! :D

Re-reading the OP, it doesn't specify if it will carry a crew.

These guys apparently have the answer, although on the larger side of the SOR.

    Thanks GTO,
that was cool.... I watched the vid, it was like the Thunderbirds cut their strings & came to life, I really expected something to explode in the background as they made their escape.....

Champ can you at least tell the purpose of this submersible? And don't tell that your boss had told you to find out just coz he was too free and wanted to psych you or something. I mean that can be a crazy thing. Designing a submersible is hell a lot of job. Even not all naval architects of the world have this experience or I can even say that there'd be only 10% of the naval architects who have really done even the preliminary design of a submersible. Only the design will cost more than 1 million USD. Leave construction part of it.

A home built submarine is a comical concept.

Find a used machine and spend a while looking at the systems and construction.

Then purchase it, you will be ahead by any number of years , and ALIVE !!

He asked about a submersible not a submarine. The design is much easier and cheaper.
