    Hi Jordi,
Are you out of Hospital already? I was lucky after 4 days out of hospital I could do quite a lot again. Kindly let me know whether you received the letter already. If the post has confiscated those few components in the letter, I have to sent it as a registered parcle and no longer as a normal airmail letter.

I noticed that the BC237B I enclosed in the letter was of a batch of poor quality, I only found that out this week. If you like, I can post you a few BC337-40, which I know is of a decent quality.
Please let me know whether the letter did arrived.
    Bert

    Hi Bert,
Thank you. The operation went well. Only one night in the hospital. I hope you are fine too. I was expecting the letter to the post office before answering. I still have faith that will come. Perhaps crashed the x-ray machine from customs inspection.:D
Now I'm taking a little time learning about Arduino for a project tiller autopilot.

Hi Jordi, OK, please let me know whether i have to repeat the contents of the letter, with a registered parcel. Programming is great fun, special software like Arduino. Bert

Sorry to hear the post has let you down. (so far, I am convinced it will still arrive) I have prepared a new breadboard, on which you can experiment various values.
    a) if the red is to bright in the day/night, increase resistor to 2k7 or higher
    b) if the green is too bright increase the 680 Ohm to a higher value
    c) if the night site is too bright, reduce the 100 KOhm over the photoresistor
If you are not able to make yourself happy, remove the photoresistor, change the value of the resistor and put a switch parallel to the resistor.

I have included in the parcel 4 extra photo resistors, no old type available anymore. You have to wait for your first parcel/letter.
Also a series of resistors, some solder, some shrink wire, some low level LED 's, some different green LED's , some red LED's and 2 LED holders, observe the rubber insert !!! for the LED wires to be pushed through!!, a glued 2 color LED , your breadboard and a drawing.
I will post the tracking number before I fly to Europe to your private email.

Let everybody, you forum readers, have a very happy new year and a beautiful Christmas.

    Bert

Thank you for your interest, Bert.

I would like to be more optimist with the Spanish post service, some things are better, but the reality is that it needs to improve a lot yet. I suppose that this is why many websites don't ship to Spain. As I thought you didn't have photoresistors, I've searched and founded this:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20PCS-LDR...al_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item51bb31440f

Some of them much more cheaper (from China), but without electronic specifications.

When I saw one of your scheme (post#48), I doubted about if it was necessary one photoresistor for every switch. When there are a lot of switchs on, isn't there a major resistence throughtout the photoresistor?

Wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all of you!

Pota, you have 5 Photo resistors in the second parcel. ALL WHAT I DID NOT HAVE ANYMORE was 2 of the 40 year old type which has a different value.

Pota, remember what I mentioned earlier, the photo resistor is only 100 milliWatt maximum power dissipation. You can have a million switches to the photo resistor, as long the current x voltage over the photo resistor is not more than 100 milliWatt.

Your parcel is on the way to you, It has this time a tracking number. I will scan the photo and the receipt in and email this to your private email address. Bert

    Finally arrived

    Hi Bert,

Just to let you know that your first letter has finally arrived! Now, I'm going to try out with it... I'll tell you about my progress.

Thank you very much, again, for your attention and help

    It is a pleasure.

Don't forget, if you receive the second letter also, you will have 9 photo resistors. You may place them parallel to increase your 100 mW power dissipation to 200mW or higher, should you use low mcd LED with currents higher than 1 mA. I have unfortunately limited access to the Internet here in St Helier, Jersey, for more help, you may have to wait until I am back in RSA again. Keep your currents as low as possible, special if you have lots of switches to observe.

Today I received the second package. Thanks again.
I made the first schematic drawing. Some of the circuit connections are not finished.

Well Jordi, the post is not so bad. Should you need more or anybody need some photo resistors to experiment, I still have 40 left over for grabs. I always can consider you request.

Very funny, I flew to London, sat in the tail section had very little sleep due to the vibrations and swaying. I was dozed away when a loud voice said. "English" and waking up I said half a sleep, "No any language" The very surprised stewardess dumped a packet on my table and then I realized , she meant : "English Breakfast" or " Continental".

Jordi, Looking at your circuit I have difficulty in seeing what your switching circuit is and how many LED's are at the same time on and fed via the photo resistor/s.

I've bought some leds to have it all equal. I don't need all of them so, if you want some, I can send you. I've also bought a silver reflector to bright the text of each switch.
I bought economical switch with red led incorporated when they are ON (I've decided to change the led position to GREEN OF and RED ON). That's why I've just changed the last drawing in my last post.

This drawing is the basic project for model one switch to costumize my circuit board, the copper in black and the holes for 1 mm.

This drawing is the total group of a line of switchs

By the way, which breakfast did you ordered finally, English or Continental?

It looks nice, I am just worried the amount of current when all switches are in such position , that the total current will be too high for the 100 mW photo transistor. The best would be to put your Ampere meter over the photo resistor and measure it. The law of Ohm/Voltage/current is fixed. If you measure 200 mA, you cannot have more than a half Volt over the resistor. If you measure 20 mA, you can have 5 Volt. As soon you place two photo resistors parallel, you can basically double the current or Voltage. There is no reason if you have high current LED's not to place 4 photo resistors parallel.

Thank you for your offer for LED's, but I have so many here from excess left overs from finished jobs. One day I may come to Barcelona and then you can take me for a trip on the sea.
I had no choice, she dumped the English breakfast on my table.

    HI Jordi,

I see, you are making some progress. That is nice for you. Have you been able to get the correct parameters right? Sorry I am in Europe and not at home. Floating around in Saint Helier/Jersey island. Got your email, but had already forgotten about you. Thought it was a pdf file with a virus. Sorry for that. Yes, projects take always longer than one anticipate. I have now also experience with the two units which I have build for Porta and EK. Still in their prototype status. Good luck. Bert

    I've nearly finished

    Hi Bert

Hope you'are fine. I've nearly finished the switch panel. Thank you very much again. I'm not going to mount it in the sailing now because first I have to dismount the voltimeter of the old panel and make a hole for the new one.

By the moment it works. The leds shine in red when the switch is on.

I enclosed three pictures about the testing on my table working.

    Regards

    Jordi
