Didn't prince leonard form the hutt river Provence in western australia over a tax dispute. I think ended up making more money out of the foreign tourists than he ever did when the province was just his farm.

Mmmm ...Look up those guys that put together Key West republic , they should have settled for Key East dictator republic. Or maybe you could buy a small island, declare war and get some reconstruction money, that's easy.

Seasteader if you search the forum there's a whole thread about someone else who wanted to do a smaller version of this...barrels vs ferro cement vs pipes etc.

    This last fall.

Seriously seasteader stop. You have never even been to sea but think it would be swell to live there 24/7. Because you're your own country? Woohoo! You (and apparently none of your crew) have any maritime skills. It's a certain recipe for death. Go crew on a fishboat or at least a yacht. Read some books. When you (falsely) think you're prepared buy a sailboat and go research your dream. Sail offshore and just drift a few months. Or you could just join an existing seasteader community (but then you can't be King).

Seasteader seems like a reasonable, level-headed person. Which makes this "quest" all the harder to understand ! There are floating "cities" on Lake Titicaca, and the marsh arabs lived on papyrus platforms before Saddam went berserk, but that is not the unforgiving, open sea.

I think the Libertarian ideals would be best served by independent small barges. They will all have different attachment systems and will have the right to detach from the rest.

I am really curious how you plan to travel to and from and import things to somewhere that is not part of a country?

No nation will let you ashore without recognized passports and customs will be a major issue for goods. Even moving money around would be very difficult.

And you might what too look into things like hurricanes and what the weather is like in the North Atlantic in winter.

There are a few rocks (Virgin Rocks) well out on the Eastern Grand Banks of Newfoundland that poke their heads above water just long enough to attach a big city type mooring chain. Allied with the (France) French islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon might get you into the European Common Market. :D

Why am I thinking about Futurama and Atlanta (with its even bigger Delta Hub) sinking?
