Yes, quite impractical to retrofit a sea skiff. What Gonzo said is what is needed, and is very easy to achieve in a custom boat. If you look at lifeboats and ocean rowing boats they have quite a bit of sheer and highly cambered decks both ends,and self drainin cockpit in the middle, they couldn't stay inverted if you wanted them to, don't need no stinkin roll bar.

To be complete, there should be mention again in this thread of Uffa Fox' air deployed selfrighting sailing lifeboat, where he used inflating structures fore and aft to re-right the boat in case of capsize.
