    Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you have any pointers to some sites or books about ergonomics in yachtbuilding.

The reason for asking is to determine the sizes and angles of seats, table, galley and other things. For example what is the optimum angle for the back of a bench in a cockpit? Or the size of the seatings in the cabin.

Well, I hope you guys know what i mean.

Thanks for your reply and greetings from the netherlands

    Arvy.

Here's an addendum to Arvy's question: Is there a source for scaled templates of human figures? Templates would give a quick way to evaluate how real people would fit into a hand-drawn interior.

I've found these: http://www.villagesupplies.com/pickett_human_figure_templates.htm , but that only covers 1/8 scale.

Does anyone have a pdf file with several scaled figures, which could be printed out and cut out? The advantage of this over the plastic templates would be that you could use an enlarging copy machine to scale a figure up or down to let you fit a design to an unusually tall or short client.

You can also check out Architectural Graphic Standards, from the American Institute of Architects, published by John Wiley and Sons, Inc., Somerset, New Jersey, The ninth edition was published in 1994, and there may be later editions. The ISBN is 0-471-53369-6. It has many pages of diagrams of the human figure with tables of size ranges and orientations is many positions, for both male, female, and children.

Thanks, Tad and Eric. Inter-library loan is toiling away to get them to me!
