Advice on fitting a narrow "under hull" into existing one

    The wetted area of the added "hull" will be more than the existing one. Do the math and it will show you that you are simply increasing displacement and wetted area. Both will increase resistance.

    Oh I see boatdesign discussions never change...

    What you might do is build the outriggers to hold up the entire weight,
    effectively build a catamaran, but use the monohull as the cabin.
    Look at the planetsolar boat to see what I mean.
