Sidewinder restoration

Got a good deal on a 16 sidewinder powered by a black max 175 for now i just pick up a 225 that needs a rebuilt and looking into purchassing a second 225 for parts or rebuild i would like to see both 225 on the rear of that boat

 

A 225 on that would be..insane. ;-) I recently picked up a Carlson CV-16..and cannot decide whether to rebuild the Volvo 120 that came with it, or put a 289 V-8 in instead. The 270 outdrive can handle the V-8, I know that much.

 

Its already fast with the 175 but it can take alot more the entire rear of the boat is reanforced with stainless platting

Please, put both the 225's on her butt and have your survivors, let us know how it works out for you. Anyone that blatantly ignores the capacity and max HP labels, generally gets what they get. Just don't invite those that you might care about along with you. The boat is rated at 135 HP max, so what the hell, put 3.7 times this on her butt and have at it. A 175 is 30% over the max rate, a 225 is 66% over the rate, so how bad could 370% over the max HP rate be? Maybe this is your way of weeding out the gene pool.

 

Yep,that's what a guy did on a lake in my province....oh 20-25 years ago.

He got airborne at well over 100 mph.Those lakes can be deep and are fed off the glaciers,so are cold-bodies don't bloat and float up.
They didn't find his body until the next spring.
Felt sorry for his wife and kid,not sure if life insurance kicked in.

Yeah, that's my interest too Brendan. I don't think this boat has enough volume aft to support 1,100 pounds (500 kg) of outboards, their controls and steering gear, plus the copious amount of fuel that will be necessary. The full up weight of this boat is less than this.
