this boat 15 meter 2 400 CAT engines.
The boat was built in Simonneau Marine International, FONTENAY LE COMTE, France 1993. I think propulsion system was designed by OTTO RANCHI.
This is one of the worst boats I ever seen. The Bow is always up and starts to go down after about 2 minutes and the speed is about 32 knots. The 2 400 hp CAT engines were very heavy and the engine room was very crowded. Therefore, engines started to break with in 6 months because of Overload. After 3 years all 8 boats were out of service.
The building company run out of money I think in 2005.

The STAR NAJA were sold in 12 units to Gulf country. All units reached a speed in excess of 40 knots and for this reason they were all accepted from Navy. The Sofresa with the boat nr. 1504 carried several tests each day for 1 month long with no problems to the engines. Same model was sold to Indonesia Police with full satistaction of the customer...so perhaps the problem was not technical but ...I let the details to you

Concerning the engines, SOFRESA sent a specialist from BUREAU VERITAS in order to examine the CAT...the results of his observations are written in the report....better don't get in details concerning the origins of the problems....anyway it's not correct to write in a public forum giving fake informations...
