Volvo BB140 in a Maine Lobster Boat

    Just to bring everyone up to date on my project:
    Had the prop repitched and balanced. They went from a 13 pitch to 11.5.
    Radically faired the oak skeg under the prop to remove notch (before photo is above). Bolted galv steel plate under the skeg to provide strength and stiffness that was lost when oak skeg was trimmed.
    Tighened keel bolts, deadwood bolts and stern bearing bolts.

    The results are impressive, a very noticable reduction in vibration. At full throttle it is much more comfortable. This is not a high end yacht and it's never going to be silky smooth but I'm happy with the improvement.

    I still have to check the engine alignment now that the boat is in the water. I don't think it is too far off but there may be a little more vibration reduction to be gained there.

    Thanks everyone for the comments and encouragement. I'm a lot smarter than I was a year ago.
    I've spent much more time working on this boat than I am ever going to spend on the water but for the most part it's been an enjoyable journey.
