House boat: Reduce, reuse, recycle.

    Why not just build a real boat instead of attempting to use an ill suited shape just because it might float? We have many options such as irrigation pipe, PVC pipe, steel containers and oil drums. They can all be made to float but none of them make a boat that is particularly efficient and probably not as economical as imagined,

    Have you ever met someone who, when you say to them: "I hope you're not about to put ketchup on that hot dog?", will put ketchup on it just because you made an issue of it?

    I'm not saying the OP is the sort to do that on his own account, indeed he's said as much, but this is his dad's idea....

    And on top of that, it's my dad's idea that we seem to always talk about while sitting in a boat waiting for a fish to bite. Which makes it akin to debating politics or the origins of the universe.

    Speaking of that, we were fishing again today and of course the topic came up. He was surprised I tried to get real advice on it, so obviously he doesn't expect it to ever be built either.
