"Is there such a thing as a boat design software program that has a design wizard?
It just ask you all the necessary questions about what it is you wish to build and then you click "Go" or whatever, and it designs it."

Yes, this software is readily available, although it is "gray matter" (brains), not on a PC. You need a competent NA to get the boat designed, seems like that is exactly what is happening right here on the forum.

I built a flat bottom plywood boat a little smaller (20 ft long x 5 ft beam, 1 ton displacement) which is plenty sturdy and has worked well for me. It was the first time I had built a boat, and the entire process is documented with photographs on thesteamboatingforum.net under "technical, non-engines & boilers", "New Plywood Sidewheeler Building". Not exactly what you want, but the construction is probably very similar to your goals. It took 5 years to build the engine, one year to build the boiler, and 7 weeks to build the boat.

The program Michlet and its companion Godzilla might help a little
but it will take quite a while to learn those difficult programs.

However, the following paragraph from the manual agrees with your
    main conclusion. :)

"For example, if the prismatic coefficient was constrained to lie
between 0.5 and 0.501, it might take a very long time to even find
one hull with a Cp in that narrow range. On the other hand, if the
range is too broad, many hulls that are uncompetitive will be
assessed, which might slow down the process considerably. On the
third hand, we don't want to miss any unusual, interesting
combinations by narrowing the range too much.
Even-handed, carbon-based, Naval Architects are probably quite good
    at this sort of thing!"

    Thanks PAR...

If you would be so kind, I would like to keep that phone call offer on reserve for awhile.
BTW... you fish much yourself? Damn lot of water in your neck of the woods.

PS - I'd much rather plan a coffee trip your way one day, over a phone call.

    John :)

Aside: I would rather have a program that somehow picked the winning Powerball numbers ... then I could just take my ideas hammered out so far on DelftShip to a NA and then on to a builder. :D
