I doubt the plans are available for this boat, but are there any similar? it looks a bit roomier than the selway-fisher micro 10, and I like all of the widows for looking out

also check out how gnarly that eagle is

Looks like it might get pretty hot in there, in the tropics. What is the horn for ? For other vessels to hear it clearly, you would send yourself deaf.

Lots of people build their own coffin but most don't climb in until they are dead.

I'd whine about this boat, but at least it is a boat.

Not for me and mine, thank any "deity". (Trying to be PC) :p

Dieing in a small space is.
    Going slow is maddening.
Getting violently seasick due to being in a cork would make me want to die, see dieing in a small space.
    Repeat.

Sorry, I'll leave you alone now.

The best thing that can be said for this boat is that it probably can be tucked in the cargo hold of a 747 for the trans Atlantic hop. So can a good kayak which might be a better all around boat..

seriously though are there any plans available that are similar to this? I really dig the almost pilot house looking top part and the windows bellow/on the sides

Some people get their jollies from self flagellation.

If you must punish yourself, then take a look at Bolgers Micro. It actually sails pretty well. I once splashed around the bay on one of those incredibly ugly boxes. It even went to weather well enough, but slowly of course. It does know how to stand up to a blow. Nonetheless, five minutes in a 25 knotter was enough for me to head for the clubhouse.

I'm not a big fan of cockpits on small boats, it feels like a waste of space

Is it bigger than it looks?

Being a jack-leg woodworker I'm betting that the end of the box visible on the dock in the second photo is 4 ft. by 4 ft. That would make the "boat" about 12 feet long, probably over 6 ft. of beam. Still very tiny.

I can tell by your recent threads that you are really considering a very small, blue water craft and I wonder if you would share your core motivation for heading in this direction.

Is it the constraint of your build space or storage space? Is it an attempt to keep the cost down? Is it for the challenge of doing something on a small scale? Do you have a particular voyage in mind?

I have read excerpts of folks that have made ocean crossings in crafts like these and they made it sound like these tiny boats sail like glorified fishing bobbers.

A friend of mine near retirement has a 32 ft. sailboat. He has been looking at boats in the 38 to 40 ft. range that can still be single handed. He wants that extra six feet because it makes a huge difference in the living space and it makes long trips more pleasant. The difference of a few feet at the scale you're talking about would be huge.

Why not build something 20 ft. long instead of 10?

    JJF,
from what I have seen the Microcruiser with the most miles under the keel is Matt's 'Paradox' design. I have seen loads of builds -I would estimate it's well into the hundreds. It has the pilot house/sit inside design you want. If it is too big at 14ft Matt also did smaller versions.

    Examples

    http://www.microcruising.com/

If you want a more serious ocean crosser you had best consult a NA and a life insurance agent.
