    AOI adjustment

Thanks for that, Corley-looks a bit similar to Groupama's system.

I'm not sure, given the previous problems, that they should have posted that.
No question it was foiling some of the time-BUT, skeptics can use that kind of intermittent foiling against them. I would think they should have waited for a video in more wind with good, steady and constant foiling like the Flying Phantoms first couple of vids.

Really? I thought the performance was very impressive considering the low TWS.

    ==================
I was just concerned that loud mouth critics might say "it's just more of the same" and discount what is clearly a substantial advance over their previous system. Should be spectacular in stronger wind.

Doug, I have a very high tolerance for you and your often "oddball" views. But it is getting harder to do after comments like that...

The video is taken from the first run with the new foils, wind was not over 6kts and it is very clear from the video that the wind is extremely light. We were even surprised at the ease of performance in such soft conditions.

Then to achieve upwind foiling in 8kts is also extremely impressive, so we are more than happy to put a video of our first test day on the new foils out there. And next week we will get the new rudders and the performance will again take another step. So as a team we are all very happy with the results. We know the numbers and the boat is so far performing exactly to them.

We have no concerns about loud mouth critics, they are not the target audience. Anyone with the $ and intelligence to be a potential customer is smart enough to see that we have a very good product that is unique in the market.

My apology for any offense taken. Glad you have such a high tolerance-especially when I said nothing but good things about the boat! My minor criticism was in the choice of that video as the first one you released with the new foils. If she foils upwind in 8 knots that is simply outstanding.
    Best of luck!

    Very neat videos, thanks Mac!

The upwind is particularly spooky, so little pitching. I guess there was some leeway, but can you say something about that flying mode VMG compared to non-flying?

How much do the foils and foil casings weigh?

    ...

If you aren't already planning to take one or two boats to the Bol d'Or this year, then I think you should consider it. Maybe last year wasn't so good, but when you get to the third time it will be magic?

leeway is very similar to normal sailing, VMG is better by a big margin. in a later run we hit 20kts upwind with same heading as we were in non foiling mode...

foils are more than the old ones (I'm not going to give away the weight, it gives too much info away in an area that costs a lot to engineer..) cases are the same as we had before, we only had to change the bearings.

I have it on good authority, that there will be more wind in the Bol d'Or this year.

    ;)

It is delightful to contemplate 20 knots upwind on a boat this size. Or any size!

Do you need four on board to handle the boat, or can it be three if the wind is light to moderate? It makes a difference?

maybe we have a way to negate the light winds for the Bol Dor.... but more on that later.

you need 4, and most of the time the boat is faster with 5 now.. RM is key to speed with the foils

    Very good answers, thank you!

    Where was the video taken?
I saw the G32 website has a countdown for the 'Austria Cup' starting on May 28th. What is the Austria Cup?

    ...

After asking in my last post what the Austria Cup was, it occurred to me that perhaps I could damn well google it myself?

Russell Coutts has one for the RC44's (of course), also on Lake Traunsee - and there's a tennis event as well.

Here a write-up of the 2013 GC 32 Austria Cup.
