An annoying problem has crept back in: the 3M "Super 77" contact cement has come loose around the edges of the decorative nonskid on the amas and around the radio box. So I'm going to redo it with Weldwood contact cement.
It will be very tedious to keep the glue from getting where it doesn't belong.

Too much wind today! At least as of noon time and earlier(8-10 knots)..... For the first rig set up and for the first sail wind has to be under 4 knots. Less would be better.

Its just putting the rig up right?

First sail on one of my boats was blowing 28 knots... Give it a go!

Seriously Doug, nothing works the first time. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain from this experiment. Go for it!

Next possibility is late this afternoon, then tomorrow morning.....

PS- at least a week before the first sail and likely more. Next is fitting the rig and pictures with the rig on the boat.

You're not even IN the water yet and you're back paddling already Doug ? !
At least get to the water before you chicken out. We all want to see you skip like a flat stone over the water at 20kn+ :D

Hint: It's going to be slower than you think. It's like everything we have in life. When I got my first bike it was fast... a month later I was walking around it wondering what I could do to make it faster because it was getting boring. That's just how we are.

Come to think about it, that rig of your's is going to be a slug, I say go for it where you at least have a chance of drifting a bit faster :p

No test fit today. Walking past the boat set up on the work table I noticed one wand looked longer than the other-impossible! So I measured and sure enough one was longer but on close inspection the carbon paddle had broken off just below the wand tube. Now, thats a real mystery because that stuff bends more than 90 degrees before it breaks. At any rate, I glued another piece to the wand. So with that and the wind -earliest is tomorrow morning......

Pretty lame Doug, when one breaks the boat so you don't have to go out it's time for a little introspection :D

Aaarrggghh! Come on, Doug - all those years, all those posts and you're pike-ing out at the moment of TRUTH.
I'm keen to see what those four deep foils will do; whether there will be too much drag and the boat will be like a huhu bug in a rotten log - or whether it lifts free and flies like a bar tailed godwit coming to New Zealand. Cheers.

    yeah,yeah, yeah......

    --------
How is it possible to fly 11,000 kilometers without a single break? The record holder for long distance flight outdoes all human-made aircraft. The bar-tailed godwit has very low energy consumption, but this is not enough to explain its success.
Every autumn the bar-tailed godwit undertakes an eight-day journey from Alaska to New Zealand. The bird flies non-stop, without once breaking the journey to rest or eat. Then when spring comes, the bar-tailed godwit makes the 11,000-kilometre journey back to Alaska.

Now thats a hell of a bird!

Don't take this the wrong way Doug, but you've talked this up for quite a while saying what this thing will do and now your saying "Yeah yeah yeah" to your audience when you aren't willing to take the stage you've gathered people around. Shouldn't we be saying that, not you?
Go fly the boat. It probably won't work the first time. Nothing wrong with that. Find out though.

I'm amazed you haven't got this yet: the boat won't sail until its ready-it's as simple as that and hasn't changed since I started this project. What happens next is fitting the rig outside and pictures of the rig on the boat. After that there is still plenty of work before the boat sails-regardless of who may be standing around. Saying things like this is just horse manure......
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the interest but comments like that don't cut it,sorry.
