    bolt plate

Carl, I can't see the bolt plate, so I don't know what it is made of, but I think it is stainless nuts spot welded on to a stainless strip. It could be a thick stainless plate that has been tapped- either way, it is very likely 304 stainless. It is inside the float, underneath the rail clamp. (fore and aft stringer) I have an aversion to stainless bolts and nuts/plates together, but if well lubricated and sealed at the deck level, it could be ok. The seal/caulking is under the plates at the deck, which also have a strip of rubber to help seal things. If water gets past that, it will be in the float. So far, that doesn't seem to be a problem.
We have three boats where stainless to alloy has not been a problem, so I guess it just depends. My 33 has aluminum beams with stainless waterstays, bolts and nuts. The bolts and waterstays are fine after 40 years, and the contact areas of the alloy beams are not bad, but the nuts on the main waterstay bolts were cracked and or crumbling. All of them! The waterstays look new, and the bolts are still in good enough condition to reuse. Go figure. Of course, I have no way to determine what alloy anything is made of.

I can't believe the demand for B24 plans is still continuing. It shows that it still has the essential features and performance of the most modern small Tris.
I have been forced to produce another 5 sets, and have only 2 left.
The plans package is not just 7 sheets of paper, but includes full size patterns, a booklet on construction using the wood epoxy technique, alternate spade rudder plan, a diagram of a simple and effective mainsheet/outhaul setup which doesn't need a bulky and expensive outhaul track, an article about how a B24 was built in six weeks, fitted out and sailing in nine. It cleaned up the fleet in it's very first race, even though it was designed by Lock to be a small and inexpensive CRUSING Tri.
It goes without saying that ongoing backup and advice is available, and this forum thread is a great resource to the builder.
Despite inflation the price is still $150.00 including P & P and PayPal fees.
PM me if interested. OS 7.

You need to post more messages before you can email or PM people directly, but it would probably help if you specified "whom" you wished to respond, as every contributor to this thread receives a 'ping' when a message is posted.....

Good luck with the Scarab. I have plans for one also.

    Questions about the Scarab plans

Sorry, folks. I put ThomD's name in the title, hoping I'd get his attention as I'm new and knew I couldn't send a PM. If anybody who has/had Scarab plans has a few minutes and could email me privately so as not to waste bandwidth and other member's time, I'd be grateful for the assistance.

    Thanks,
    LeeV

    Pam's

Got it, thanks. I just didn't want to post meaningless stuff, just to make the minimum. Ironically, I'm doing so anyway!

    Very OT---but,
Bruce, I see you are getting a little bit of snow in Atlanta. Not good when melting snow gets in the bilge, melts--then freezes again.

Not to mention the 19" we got up here in Maryland! Were the B28 plans ever found and made available again?

    Hello Buccaneer 24 builders.
I'm new to the forum but I've been following the Buccaneer threads for a while.
After failing to buy a Buccaneer 24 last summer I decided I might want to build one. So Old Sailor, if still available, I'm interested in a set of your plans. Could you let me know ?
