I agree. The docking on all of the northern lakes are either at a small private dock or private boathouse. The clients that I will be marketing to have places like the one below.

The open docks would look like this one:

    Or even like this:

You will notice that there is really no need for deep v performance and usability on an inner lake is what I am striving for...

Wow! That sort of boat house a far cry from what we have in South Africa for inland dams (we have no sizeable natural lakes to speak of) and rivers. We have a large (by our standards) estuary in Knsyna, but ones own quay is about as good as it gets. A boat house is lucky to be an old barn of wood.

The highland lakes on Ontario became a fashionable place to visit as the railroads and steamers made the country accessible in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Hotels appeared, then the country homes. Paddling around some of the lakes one can see a few of the olde-style boat houses still. It's the sort of life I feel particularly suited to . . .

50' on deck, has propulsion, but shouldn't be considered a passage maker. Lots of room, storage and accommodation. Best of all, it looks and acts like a boat, not a Winnebago on floats.

Looks great for day tours of the Lake of Bays!

The original of this design did sunset and lunch tours for a while, but the economy put an end to her earning here keep. She was idle up near Jacksonville that last I heard.
