Merry Christmas 2013!

I took the Dog to the christmas kennels today, freeing us for our trip annual trip to whoever - in a foolish moment of bonhommie - volunteered to "do" the family get -together. The venue for the party (human) had to be changed at the last minute because the original old farmhouse owned by a cousin was flooded and without heat since the latest storm. As the temperature outside passes -15C (5F for those in more primitive areas) I'd like to take this opportunity to commiserate sincerely with those unfortunates who find it necessary to run their air conditioners at this time of year, and are kept awake by the noise. All are welcome to take a relaxing trip North and help break up the ice and shovel the snow. Do not attempt the trip without winter tires! I feel so selfish keeping all this to myself.

The Dog does pretty well for herself BTW, she gets a private suite at the "Pet Resort" with individual outdoor run, daily walks and play time, treats, and she is brushed every day. The facility is a custom-built, heated (or air-conditioned in the event of - oh, never mind) with separate buildings for felines and canines and is awesome; must have cost a fortune. She appeared to be the only cross-breed there but it didn't seem to matter to her at all, and I don't embarass easily. It's a lovely spot, acres of woodland and field. The three days will cost more than I spend on myself this year; unfortunately they don't take people.

One of my forum friends on the Kayak Forum posted his Merry Christmas message to all and let out the information that he has eight and a half boats (we all know what is meant by a half-a-boat of course) and I thought what a wonderful seasonal message that was to to us all. We can always use the encouragement or excuse. I plan to pass on this information to the Missus, together with Paul's surprisingly modest count and any other sensibly high numbers I see in this thread. Perhaps I won't mention Angelique: one? Shame on you! The combined message of Peace on Earth and the information on my personal restraint will - I am sure - carry far more weight with my spouse than the remarks I used to make about shoes, dresses and purses. I have only three boats, plus a couple building, and of course a couple more maturing in the computer where prying female eyes cannot see them until they become committed and irreversible by the carving of a stem. Like oak trees and babies, my boats start small; but I'm getting off the point.

That is because the Catholic church has a very strong influence in Cebu where it is said to be the first mass was held by the Spanish friars. It is only in Cebu where the time stands still for a minute or so every 3 o'clock afternoon as most of the locals and the believer would stood still to pray. Like a time freeze, you could be moving but they won't. You can try talking to them but they won't answer back.
