I understand that our comments are not a contest, but it just seems that we were going round and round with no progression of opinions on either end of the discussion.

A healthy and civil discussion was had here, and readers may take away what they judge appropriate. My job as a power plant design engineer has specialized in the Mechanical Engineering of several types of heat engines for over 40 years, however I am not a degreed Tribologist.

Rotella still has the anti friction additives in it that are banned from SI oils by the EPA, its only an issue to flat tappet cams

You can make a SI and CI engine more fuel efficient than they are today but they wouldnt pass any emission test
The new turbo v6 F1 engines we will see next year may well be the most efficient SI engines ever, the rule on fuel flow and max useage have gotten very tight, I wonder what their emissions are like?

The newest engines that have interesting concepts are being built for Drones.

The military wants to get rid of gas as a fuel and run everything on JP.

The new design uses very high fuel pressure to install tint droplets in the cylinder which quickly vaporize.

The mixture is then ignited with a common spark plug.

The super heavy construction required for CI is not required , so the engine is light enough for flight.

Nice , but the military doesnt have to be bothered by the Air Police , so weather this new tech gets into cars ,trucks and bikes is still up for grabs.
