Built with marine ply, epoxy resin & TLC, they'll last 100 years. Which is more than you can say about me. ;)

magyarpete , what do you mean by "plans"? Do you want to make your own exact reproduction of a full size Riva? Do you want any full size wooden boat construction drawings? Do you want to make a 30" model that looks like any wooden boat?

Or, do you want a drawing to hang on your wall as a piece of art?

    Hi Helpful Boater

well.. it goes like this. I told my wife I wanted this style of boat ( Aquarama) - she liked the idea and suggested I build it, I gave it some thought and admittedly think the picture on the wall is the best solution. That said I'm up for challenges that put me well outside my comfort zone.

So here we are needing a full size reproduction set of plans.

Just to qualify - I am an enthusiast not a purist, therefor I do not intend to tell people that I have a 'Riva' but a beautiful classic style boat to enjoy with my family - that I helped to create.

So if you do have replica full scale plans available i am happy to discuss.

    thanks

    Hi Adler

The .fbm file format is new to me. I run macs - is it an autocad format or similar?
    thanks

    Good Morning,

    Goto http://hydronship.net/index.php?lang=en
    Download Software Freeship 3.40 released 31/03/2013 - 31Mb.
    It stands as freeware.
Put it in a separate file into your hard disk and
run Freeship.exe to open the file that sent to you.
It is not needed to have an installation process of the software.
The Freeship.exe file can be executed directly.

Hope to hear news from you soon.

I don't think Freeship is available for Mac OS, but I might be wrong.

    Data

    On the other hand .....
find attached a .DXF file with meshes if you want to work in Autocad.
or Co-ordinates and offsets data to make an input in any software
that could be available to you.

Mac should be able to emulate a Windows environment, so you can run FreeShip.

but one cannot (without a lot of work and knowledge) build a boat from a freeship file. Its just the shape of a shell - of unknown accuracy too.

magyarpete - what is you rough guess for a budget you would be willing to spend on such a project?
I think there are decent plans available for classic looking cold molded powerboats but the process of building one is long and not exactly cheap.

    Hello Kerosene

I saw an estimate of US$500 per foot but I think that double that should see the hull built.
As for the rest only time will tell. I have a close friend who has been rebuilding an e type jag for years - the cost is not the real issue for him but the journey. I'm only in my 40's and just out of training wheels!!
