I propose that before a designer draws a new boat , he assembles all eqiupment, spare parts, supplies, sun awnings, dingies, storm sails, jerry jugs, safety gear......

then draws a boat around this massive pile.

as for open transoms and low docks...err emm. Open transomes are handy when stern too a floating pontoon...after that they are simply to low to go stern too against 90 percent of the docks suitable for 50 to 70 ft boats

ahahah.. yes it is. it permits me to have big windows for the guest rooms.
Also the open stern that is 80cm form the sea is an element that u can find on bigger boats. I would experiment it to change the typical small boat composition.
That terrace can be set with cushions, a table and chairs and other stuff..
The big windows reduce also the marked difference that is still present between mast and guests rooms.

From a nostalgic point of view I also prefer classic boats.. the classic swan are superb but the market has evolved and people look for squared stern hull, that I personally dislike. My design try to mix a classic Gfrers hull in plan with a modern squared hull. usually with this kind of hull we have the max beam at 2/5 from the bow.. :-(

one meter fifty is a typical dock height. Boarding planks dont work well uphill...they prefer level or down hill with the outboard end resting on its wheels.

And I dont believe that the market has evovled , I believe that the new clients entering the market have limited experience.

educating the client is what a designer is for. Designing with knowledge of the past , while using modern materials and systems to make these lessons of the past better and easier to operate

KN Value : I edited the picture with a CAD program and I measured the angle. As I said befor, 18 degrees it is an approximation. The number does not matter, what matters is that, when the boat heels and needs more righting arm, the value of it decreases.

Well if you design a boat for a 0ne hundred unit production run , you have no choice but to follow the fashion of the day.

When you custom design , their is no need for fashion. A custom design is all about form and function...every detail.. This is why a client buys a custom yacht.

In my opinion, it has nothing to do with one another. I see no clear ship´s naval architecture but of course, I have no elements to make a judgment about it.

I can't believe that those cockpit ergonomics are correct. Either the boat is tiny or the humans will have to be giants.

Filippo, the best way to show the correctness of the proportions (which look ok to me) is to insert human figures scaled to the same scale as the boat. Show them standing and sitting both outside and inside the boat. In that way you will be sure to that the proportions of living spaces are correct.
And, by the way, this is a pretty usual welcome committee for those who dare to publicly show their work in the forum. Especially when the presentation is so rich with details. The more you show, the more there is to be judged. :p So don't worry, you just have to be strong enough to endure the critics (which are usually very constructive) and to show them all that your design choices are correct. ;)
    Cheers

Your stern pulpit, lifeline arrangement looks illegal.

That mainsheet behind the helmsman looks dangerous in a jibe. Chop the helmsmans head off. I prefer to see the Mainsheet Coming at me ,then hit the deck.

I dont like self tacking headsails, to make them work correctly the track must stand proud of the deck camber. This track is intrusive and clutters the foredeck. A normal genoa track, sheet system works better

When steering a boat you cant always stand behind the wheel to windward, you need a place to sit or lean.

A small boat requires that the same person steering can ease the mainsheet and tend the genoa sheet.

I dont know at what aft beam two rudders become effective..the advantage of twins is that the centerline of the transom locker is clear of the rudder post and able to accept a bigger dingy or more storage.

Becareful with topsides windows located at or just forward of beam max. This is were the fender load is when alongside.
