i used a small piece from the clutch spring to connect the two throttle cables. threaded the cable through like a key ring

yes and the prop is too much for the 1.1 hp 28cc motor. it was running too low rpm's just above cutting out, so i shaved 1/2 inch off both blades. ive been working 10 hrs a day for the last 12 days and am working this weekend also... needless to say i havnt had time to see the improvment. the good news is i was going about 3-4 miles a hour against a current, and 7-8 miles a hour with the current, so it has enough power to make it worth while.

sorry for doubting your suggestion wildwatson. i think a different prop is needed. i cant seem to shave enough off to get good rpm's. on top of that my shear pin sheared on my hunting trip and that was the end of that. got 3 drake mallards 1 hen mallard 1 hen sprig 2 teal, and realized i need to practice my shooting.

I've had a little experience with that (I'm referring to the Weed Eater Outboard not the Chainsaw Motorcycle. I use a 4.25 inch prop on 25cc which works pretty well... here is a youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOcDMe8xTPs

I'm presently gathering the parts needed to make the "lil indian" outboard.

I already got a 31cc ryobi weedeater, an old dead motorguide motor (got it from a repair shop but needed to check for same "tube" diameteras my weedeater's...newer models have bigger tubes than the older ones).

Still need to source the 2 grears... from the website, it would cost me near 100$ ... I'm sure I can find better somewhere else.

This will be my "winter project"...

will post pics as I go along

    i havnt given up

i today was a good day.... took off the motor for this trip, small place and socked with weeds anyway. the r/c props dont have enough metal left if you drill them out to 3/8 so thats a bust. dont have a lathe and im not rebuilding to a 1/4 in shaft. ill see how the youngs filed down works. im at 4 3/4 now and i took off my grass and that greatly reduced the drag. ill keep filing little by little to try to gain rpms. i have notice a little gain with the 1 inch i took off. i want to put a gx35 on it and call it done... anyone have 250$ to spare?
