Ok well I cleaned out the carby and put it back on this arv and cranked over the motor she took a bit to get going but started in the end and it seems that it is no longer leaking fuel any.more however it is idling rough as guts but that should.hopefully be an easy fix does anyone know the.specs that the idle screws should be set to and what rpm it should idle at?

You're attempting to tune and perform assembly rebuilds, without a manual for your engine? This is the first tool you buy for the boat, if you plan on fixing things yourself.

Absolutely correct, but shelling out for a manual seems to meet with a lot of resistance from tinkerers !

That's half my problem I have no idea of the exact year all I know is that it is a late 70's model because the serial number on the swivel bracket does not come up with anything at any marine stores and as far as the model goes it is a mercury 1150 inline 6 blue band thats all I know, basically for everything I have been doing I have been googling the hell out of it finding a whole bunch of diagrams/info etc off any outboard similar to mine and utilising what I can out of it the rest I just kinda wing it and hope for the best I guess, sounds dodgy as hell I know but it's just a simple case of not being able to afford an outboard mechanic otherwise I would throw the outboard at him and say go for gold

Hey Cory, give Bert Skuce a ring, he is a mobile outboard mechanic around Brisbane, a Mercury man for many years might know where you can source a workshop manual.
