Sounds interesting; I had no idea there was good hunting there.

Of course, I'm not much of a trophy hunter. Generally when I go out to shoot something, it's because I want to eat it.... and I can do that here. :p

Maybe I was lucky; site seemed to be working fine when I visited it.

Laukejas the catamaran find is interesting. It seems that the owner does not care about it. Maybe you can persuade the owner that you would be doing him a favor by hauling it away. I am certain that you would give it a kind and loving home and probably figure out a way to make it work again.

The mainsail uses a wishbone boom according to the picture. The curve in the booms is insufficient for letting the sail set perfectly unless the sail is cut extremely flat. It is a good rig anyway. That kind of rig gets the boom up above the heads of the crew. Fewer busted heads that way. It is a shame to let it remain exposed to the weather that way.

I wish you the best of luck. We will be here, cheering for you, when or if you need us over the winter season.

Well, tomorrow I depart from here, so today, I have to pack everything. I'll try to put leeboards, mast step and rudder post in dry place, so that they won't rot until next year. As for the mast, there is absolutely nowhere to put it where rain couldn't touch it, so I'll just hang it on ropes high above ground (horizontally), so it can dry quickly if it gets wet (I think I should hang it at least on 3 ropes - 2 on the ends, one in the middle - so that it won't bend due to it's own weight, and stay curved after drying).

Sharpii2, thank you again, I considered these options, but they are quite complicated. For the first one, well, the stays are tied around the mast, so that point is very thick, and if there were additional stick, it would certainly interfere. As for battens - well, maybe I should do it, but I would have to make new ones, certainly longer. Maybe next year :)

troy2000, I think it's national reserve here, so I wouldn't recommend chasing down that goose :D But it's tasty-looking all right.

messabout, yes, that's one of the reasons I tried to find anyone around that catamaran - I had a similar idea to make a deal with the owner. But I'm pretty sure he wasn't around at the time. In fact, there was no one around. Looks like they left that catamaran and went away somewhere. Still it isn't right to take it without asking, even if they dumped it like this.

That catamaran lacks one pontoon and it's forward part, that black tip. I wouldn't know what to do about that. Making one myself would be a tremendous challenge, probably well beyond my abilities and tools. As for buying one - not sure they are sold separately. This catamaran is certainly built abroad, so it would be very difficult to find a match.
It also surprised me that that pontoon is so small in diameter. It's a bit deflated, but still. Even two of them wouldn't have a lot of buoyancy. I didn't try to lift this catamaran, but I'm think it weights at least 70 kg.

I'm pretty sure that if I got my hands on that catamaran, I would replace both pontoons with larger ones (probably from another catamaran). Well, but I certainly won't have opportunity to try, with owner being missing!

Well, that's about it. I have to go now and unrig the boat, store it for the next year, and hope for the best :)

Thank you again for you help. I won't forget it.
